The Council was established in 1958 by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate to ensure that its examinations become adapted to the educational needs of the country and assign the ultimate control of the same on the Council. The Council was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1660 on 19 December, 1967.

St. Joseph Mont./Inter College got its affiliation to Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (ICSE), New Delhi in the year 2004 and further in the year 2006 for ISC. The teachers and students of the institution have strived hard to achieve 100% result, consecutively for the last four academic sessions.

Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh

The Board was set up in the year 1921 at Allahabad by an act of United Provinces Legislative Council. It conducted its first examination in 1923. This Board is one in India which, from the very start, had adopted 10+2 system of examination. The first public examination after 10 years education is High School Examination and after the 10+2 stage, there is Intermediate Examination. Prior to 1923, University of Allahabad was the examining body of these two examinations.
